Wonderful experience from start to finish. You know it’s going to be good when it starts with petting a very friendly dog. Human service was excellent too :). Friendly, helpful, all that you could ask for. My wife and I shared a focaccia sandwich to start. Delicious. A whole sandwich on its own would have been enough for lunch. We shared a pizza (The Roman). It was superb. We sat and ate and drank in the most peaceful of settings. Even the pigeons splashing me from atop the fountain was fun. There’s lots of pizza in Aix and some others may be very good. Give them a try but do yourself a favor and don’t miss out on this gem.

We ended up at Fatto Bene by chance. It was a visit we would have preferred to have avoided. My wife ordered a pizza where the buffalo mozzarella had a sour aftertaste and did not taste fresh. When she pointed this out to the waitress, an older man, probably the owner, came shortly afterwards and scolded her in front of other customers. He said he got angry when she described the food as “not fresh”. Scolding a guest in front of other customers for saying the food did not taste fresh is degrading behavior and very poor customer service. We stayed to avoid a scene, but our appetite was gone. I would have preferred to just pay and leave without eating. Lowest possible rating.

Today I happened to pass by Pizzeria Fatto Bene. I was looking at the menu outside and the lady at the door gave me such a sincere smile that I immediately decided to return that evening to eat there. And thank goodness I did. The service, both her and him, was truly pleasant. Kind, attentive, calm, without that rush or pressure that makes you want to run away. People who do their job well and take their time. They also speak excellent English, so everything runs smoothly. I had a Pizza Verdura. The dough was well-cooked, you can tell it comes from the stone oven, kneaded with semolina, which gives it that delicious graininess under your teeth. The vegetables were fresh, plentiful, and cooked just right. And most importantly, the pizza wasn't wet in the center, which often happens. Here, however, you eat well, without everything falling into your hands. For wine, they recommended a Pinot Grigio della Bolla, dry and fruity, perfect with pizza. To finish, I had a Crème de Citron, fresh and light, with a lovely limoncello flavor. The only slightly odd thing was that the crème came in a plastic cup. I don't know why. You could take a star off for that, but given how good everything else was, it's worth it. The restroom surprised me. Very clean, much cleaner than many others I've seen in similar establishments. You can tell they really care. I'm usually very strict when giving stars, but here everything works so well that I'll give it five stars without hesitation. I hope the owner reads this review and continues on this path, because I'll be back. And don't worry, I won't be recognized, I'll eat in peace and take notes like any other customer. 😎

We had the most delicious pizza while sitting next to the fountain. It was a truly memorable lunch, but then we left my precious bag of watercolours and sketches behind on the table. We had left France by the time we realised and it was too late. Estel very kindly posted the bag to our home address and we can’t thank her enough for the care she gave us and rescued us. Not only are the pizzas amazing, but the staff are incredible as well. Recommend!!! 😍😍😍😍

Yasmine and Chiara are the best and offer us the best pizzas in Aix-en-Provence.

A wonderful experience on the terrace in a lovely, peaceful setting. The pizzas were absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced! Thank you for the experience, and a special mention to Chiara who served us with a smile 👍🏻
